A CLOSE CALL VICTORY, SKY BLUE CAPTURES BAYANIHAN CUP 2006 (Edgar Polinar)

Riyadh - Tournament's consistent leader Sky Blue triumphed over its closest and fiercest challenger, Khaki, to win this year's prestigious event, Pinoy Netters Bayanihan Cup 2006 recently at the Al Yamama Hotel Tennis Courts here.

Sky Blue garnered a total of (475-42) game points/set points against (470-41) for the Khaki's - a close call victory for Sky Blue.  Khaki put a good fight against Emerald Green in their final match, but victory was looming for the Sky Blue when one of the players of Khaki suffered injury in the game at 3-3 game points each and was eventually won by Emerald Green (8-3).

Sky Blue met Dark Blue in their final match which also proved to be formidable opponent for the Champions. However, the onslaught of Sky Blue's best and seasoned players made the Dark Blue players packing in the end.

Khaki with one of its players injured, eked out a hard-fought victory against the Emerald Green, but was not enough to compensated the five game-point deficit against Sky Blue.  In court 2, Lime Green demolished the White team to capture the second runner-up honors. Emerald Green settled for the final 4th place while the underdog Carnation Pink ended up in the 5th place.

In the same vein, despite Black team's failure in its bid to be in the Magic Five, two of its players made it as Best Players, Rey Lamban (B1) & Jimmy Perfas (B2).  Other Best Players were Romy Leyva & Gerome Corpuz (B3/B4), Angel Oroga & Jigs Garcia (B5/B6), Nelson Martirez & Edgar Estoesta (B7/B8) & Ernie Perez & Ning Bautista (C1/C2).

BAYANIHAN CUP 2006 OPENS TODAY (Edgar Polinar)

Riyadh - For all the finest breed and seasoned tennis aficionados in Riyadh region, all roads would definitely lead them to the Bayanihan Cup Team Tennis Challenge which opens today, September 15, 2006 at the Al-Yamama Hotel Tennis Courts, organized under the auspices of Pinoy Netters Club 102 in celebration of its 4th Year Anniversary.

A total of twelve teams at ten members each signed-up to participated in this year's prestigious event.  The traditional parade of teams in their uniforms, together with their cute muses, signals the start of the month long tournament.  It is scheduled to be played every Thursday and Friday evening.  It employs a unique game format, a first in the Riyadh region, wherein, all players have a chance to compete in the double and single matches.  In the double match, each player can have three partners from different category players in addition to his partner from his assigned category within his team.

As earlyas three weeks or so before today's event, players from different teams practiced rigidly to boost their team's chances in the tournament standing.  Pinoy Netters Club 102 envisaged that this tournament and the previous ones organized by the club would foster close camaraderie among Filipino workers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.  The club is also deeply committed to lessen, if not to totally getting rid of the negative Filipino trait "kanya kanya" (each man for himself), system which is very prevalent among us, and to develop teamwork and transparency as exemplified through the conduct of every game and the club's mission and objectives.

Indeed, Pinoy netters Club102 , with its current President, Mr. Richard Villanueva, at the helm is deeply honored and privileged to host the Bayanihan Cup 2006, as tennis enthusiasts play and have fun with to some of the finest tennis players we could possibly find in the entire Riyadh Region.

2nd Pinoy Summer Clinic Another Success

The 2nd Pinoy Netters Summer Tennis Clinic culminated, it lasted for 2 months in time for the preparation of the 3rd tournament of the year "The Bayanihan Cup 2006".  The clinic participated by new and old members of the club was a big success and expected to have another one, this time for the intermediate level.

New and old members alike enjoyed learning the basics and drill conducted by PNC102's instructor, Toto Diosana assisted by PNC102 officers.  Before the start of the clinic, participants were give na set of manuals (hardcopies and the one in CD) that can help them prepare once the sessions begin.  Participants will be given certificates after completing eight sessions of two hours each. GOLDEN ACRES - HOME FOR THE AGED

Golden Acres, according to the Department of Social Welfare and Development is a 1 hectare span of freshly situated home for the aged and the elderly or senior citizens. They admit senior citizens in the facility aged 60 years old and above.
